Let's Wrap This Up...

This is the voice (typing) of Melissa, in case you were wondering. Roger is getting busy with working, and though I am busy trying to find a job etc, I am more available to blog...he he he.
OK. Enough for introductions.
Our Trip was cool, but lets get it over with...we have had several adoption updates that need to get on here. Probably tomorrow. So, on with the show...

Day three took us into Arizona and the Saguaro National park. I thought that cacti would be boring...I mean how interesting can dry dirt and poky plants be? I was wrong. Look at this hot looking cactus I found.

I also thought that the dogs would have some animal instinct about not getting poked. I was wrong. Luckily, we saved them. These things are enough to give a person bad dreams.

That night we stayed in a cool retro hotel/hostel in Tucson. This is where John Dillinger was caught. I didn't know it but he was a big time bank robber back in the day. YIKES!

Roger loved this place...but I had a stomach ache and stayed in bed.

While Roger was out in the hallway he met some people dressing up like reindeer. They were putting on a disturbingly unique version of the relationship between Santa and his reindeer. He decided this was one he could miss.

The next day we were able to see Roger's Uncle Max. I never really talked to him much, but he was super nice and had lots of good ideas. He showed us his pistachio farm. I hope that I am as ambitious as he is into my salt and pepper years.

That night we stopped in Lancaster, CA. We found a hotel for $50 bucks, (score!) and it looked fine from the outside. Roger asked about the pet policy and the guy at the desk said, "No pets." Then he changed his mind. He was really nice.

Once in the hotel room we noticed that there were bars on the windows. Our room neighbor had their alarm going off and the front desk guy was said that she was a mental health patient and he would rather not go in and turn it off, sorry. By the time we discovered that the toilet was not quite in working order my dad called. He was freaked ;). He also said that my Aunt Deb lived in Lancaster! WHO KNEW?!? I guess my dad did. So we left what could have been the Bates Motel and had a lovely evening with my Aunt Deb and Susan. We told them about the Motel we were staying in--I guess it has a reputation...a bad one.

The next leg of our journey took us to Yosemite National park. There was a little cabin that we stayed in for 3 nights. IT WAS COLD!

This is a picture of me frozen to death on a hike. Roger thinks it is hi-larious.

It was also beautiful. We were able to spend some time hiking and resting up. We almost got "attacked" by a bear...he didn't like to have his picture taken. Roger risked life and limb to document the event.

He is so brave

The second day we hiked to a place where there were huge fissures in the ground. You could be walking along and then there was no ground. This was the first time that I have ever known Roger to be scared, but he was. I wasn't. :)

It really was an amazing place. Completely beautiful. Every thing was REALLY BIG. Big valley, waterfalls, granite peaks. BIG FUN. We will definitely take our kids there.

Finally, after a long drive we made it to our new home!
